  15. <p>     DIED. C.L. SULZBERGER, 80, journalist; in New York City. A member
  16. of the New York Times publishing family, Sulzberger served as
  17. a foreign correspondent and commentator for almost 40 years,
  18. beginning in 1939. After covering World War II from more than
  19. 30 countries, Sulzberger--his initials stood for Cyrus Leo--became the Times' chief foreign correspondent, covering the
  20. cold war with an amazing array of contacts in Eastern Europe.
  21. His dispatches from Yugoslavia won a special Pulitzer Prize
  22. citation in 1951, and three years later, he started his "Foreign
  23. Affairs" column in the Times. Sulzberger not only covered news,
  24. he made it: in The Last of the Giants, one of two dozen books,
  25. he revealed that in 1961 he carried a message from Soviet leader
  26. Nikita Khrushchev to President John F. Kennedy.
